A/C Condenser Part Number and Availablility - searching Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Mon, 24 Jun 2019 12:26:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The A/C hoses on my 1994 SAAB 9000 Aero are leaking and the system is not holding refrigerant for very long. As expected, the hoses are No Longer Available (NLA) parts, so I am going to have them rebuilt by a local shop that specializes in hydraulic hoses and A/C work. After looking at my car, they warned me that the joint between the short hose between the compressor and the top fitting on the condenser is quite rusty and may break; add to that the poor shape of the condenser (previous owner must have run into a big rock, bending it and flattening most of the bottom fins!), so I'm trying to find a condenser. For my car the replacement is a Nissens 94300.
I have tried my usual suppliers, i.e. eEuroparts and FCP Euro, and neither have the part; eEuro took my order, then cancelled it the next day. Have tried ordering it from other supplies that say that they have the part, eventually they do not.
I have found that there is another part Nissens 4755492 that is spec'ed for 1996+ SAAB 9000s, and may be possible to use with an adapter kit 7495559. Based on pictures, I have a feeling that the adapter may be the plate that goes through the middle of the condenser to mount the fan assembly, but I can't find any further info.
Is there any significant change in the A/C system for 1996 cars that would prevent a newer condenser from working in a 1994 car? Does the newer 4755492 condenser have a port for the pressure switch (all the pictures that I have found show the back side)?
