I've suffered through a defective new clutch master cylinder before too. I guess it must be kind of a thing. Fortunately my second one has been fine. Your symptoms certainly sound like a bad master. Double check that you're not losing fluid and can't see fluid leaking out of the bell housing as that indicates a bad slave cylinder (unfortunately those aftermarket ones aren't exactly known for their quality either). The only other likely alternative is a decaying master to slave hose, sometimes apparently they can get internal blockages that cause issues or it's letting in air somewhere, but to me it sounds like you have a classic bad master issue.
