I must have been thinking of the C900 which has a simple two-wire setup. Here is the 9000 instrument lighting wiring diagram which shows the rheostat at about the center of the page.

It looks like if the green wire, where power is brought in from the fuse block (shown as pin 7 in the diagram) is connected to the brown wire (pin 2) that would bypass the rheostat and apply full voltage to the bulbs. (Note that except for power and ground all the pins look like they are wired together with brown and brown/white wires.)
Disclaimer: I have not tested this so look carefully at the wiring diagram yourself and draw your own conclusion, and use due caution. I don't accept any responsibility if the magical smoke is let loose out of some component if you try this!!
