Welding is going to be your best bet. But he needs to be able to get it back exactly where it was at to do the welding properly so everything else lines up.if It doesn't get lined up properly the clutch slave cylinder could be out of alignment and not properly engage the slave cylinder. If it's not lined up properly it will work okay for a while and then eventually it will fail. And I mean the slave cylinder will fail. I looked at mine last night and it looks like if he disconnects the clutch he should be able to get it pushed back into the proper position and reweld it. Ideally your best bet is to get a used one to put in there. Hanover European Auto parts in Minnesota has lots of stuff. Of course that's going to cost more money. But if the mechanic knows what he's doing and can get it lined up properly it should not be a problem fixing that by welding it.
