Surges when cold, not when warmed up Posted by skibumm100 [Email] (#3255) [Profile/Gallery] (more from skibumm100) on Fri, 28 May 2021 08:50:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm working on the 97 CSE that my oldest son had for a few years in college to get it ready for my youngest to use. The car is an automatic and it surges noticeably when it's cold (not warmed up), especially at lower temperatures. I found the boost gauge inop due to the vacuum/boost hose being disconnected at he "Y". The oldest probably knocked it off when he was replacing a heater hose coupling or maybe it just fell off. Ever since I reconnected it the car surges in the morning when I leave the driveway. Once warmed up, I don't notice it. I assume this is due to the lack of a vacuum leak it probably had for a long time. Is there a way to reset the idle air control valve, assuming it has one? I have never had a problem like this before in all my years of 9000 ownership but I would like to get it fixed before I hand it over for its next thrashing.
TIA
