I consider myself very fortunate because I was pretty much forced to get my 1st 9000 when I desperately needed a car & had shown up at a (supposed) Saab shop to pick up a C900 which turned out to be a frankenstein car.

I had literally driven there in a junker & didn't even have a ride home if things didn't work out.

Ended up driving home in a pre-facelift 9000 that was a real stinker - literally !!

All the same, it turned out to be a one-way transition after I'd thought the C900 was the best car for me - I was mistaken.

When I later went to get another (non-stinky) 9000, the seller was just gushing about how he was selling it because he'd gotten an Aero - and frankly I'd no idea back then what the attraction was...
But he told me - in great detail - and I was just happy to be getting a better car.

Later still (and still not having learned enough) I let myself get talked into a '93 Aero (#1) by someone whom I considered to be a trusted friend...oopsy.

Learned 1st hand about TCS, ETS & LHM. Nasty. $pendy too.

All the same, once fixed, that Aero was a joy to drive - until some portion of its excessive electronic gobble-de-gook failed at a time when I was too seriously ill to afford $1000+ parts swaps.

So I swapped that car for a really nifty almost-Aero - an '88 that looked like it may have been a Carlsson (SP ??), which was a huge pleasure to drive as well.

Since none of the standard parts would fit it for reasons forever to remain unknown, when I came across an absolutely gorgeous '94 Aero (#2) selling from a state without road salt in use - I spent all my savings to get it - as the 2nd owner.
Such a perfectly lovely car too !!

Sadly, 2 moose in the middle of a dark back country road made for that car's demise - in avoiding them it got rolled so hard that it was absolutely FUBAR.

Despite my sadness at being injured & that car's loss - it facilitated meeting my wonderful friend (and now part time) Saab mechanic, who bought its wreck from me for parts.

T'was hard to top that - or even come close to it really - and I ended up getting a very fun '91 turbo from a total scoundrel who had dummied up some needed repairs.

Even though I spent a small fortune on keeping it going, I did enjoy all the times spend at my friend's garage and in truth the worst of that car was just its insipid (9003 ??) headlamps.

But then...
Quasi (remember him ??) put his '94 Aero (#3) up for sale & the long road trip was made to go & get it.
I enjoyed that car for years, until it was getting a bit soft & definitely tired.

Finally another Aero came to my attention - a '97 (#4) - and though I'd dearly wished I could find a '98, this was a good deal - or so it appeared.

It was bought knowing it had leaky clutch hydraulics - so off it went to my friend's place which was when & where it stayed while the whole fading parts supply became SNAFU, and too many iterations of defective NEW parts were tried & failed miserably before it could become whole.

In that process many smaller problems came to light wherein the younger man I'd bought it from had clearly tinkered with stuff & messed it up - so other repairs also got done during that intermission.

But it was worthy of the wait - and was truly wonderful until it had a very strange water pump failure which fortunately did not lead to any overheating.

And it is here again after I had to miss it for a while.

Driving my partner's Outback for all that time really hammered into me that...

There really, truly is nothing else like a REAL Aero !!

This all makes me glad that I am old enough now that maybe Aero #4 can be my last car, as I've zero desire to try and find any suitable replacement for it.

So - even with my silly post title and all - I feel very fortunate to have had 4 Aeros as my 'quiver of Aeros'.

Has anyone else here also had a bunch of Aeros over time ??
