So I have a 1996 Saab 9000 CSE automatic. After the car is warmed up you go drive it for a while you turn it off the fan runs for probably 2 minutes. So after the car has set for a second and the fan has turned off you can turn the key back on and the fan comes on for another 2 minutes and you can repeat that process over and over and over for probably an hour and a half because I did it. So we are trying to solve a inoperable temperature gauge. I'm thinking maybe the edu is starting to act up even though it was on. So we swapped out one that I had ,edu is good put it in the car and same thing fan will cycle on and off every time you turn the key on. Now you do have to let the fan run for a couple of minutes and turns itself off but then you can still turn the key on and the fan comes back. So we put his instrument cluster back in and now his edu does not work. So no big deal we put the instrument cluster that I had just put in that was mine and now that edu does not work. So very strange. I'm thinking two different problems, one I probably need to change the temperature sensor on the end of the head. We are actually going to do both just to make sure. Not really sure why the edus would all of a sudden be acting up but we've got a couple ordered from eBay and fingers crossed. The weird thing is is if I just take the edu out of the speedometer, and then I remove the edu out of its black case, and plug it in and turn the key on the edu comes on. So I put the edu back in the speedometer housing and the second I snap it into place the edu turns off. I pulled the edu back out and it comes right back on. So I resoldered the joints on that piece of ribbon that goes from the display part to the circuit board part. I can bend that little ribbon around in 90 different directions while it's out of its case and the edu stays on while it's still plugged into the car the second I snap it back in to its black case it turns off. I know it's long and complicated I'm just kind of telling you what the last 4 hours have been like any thoughts.
