Get an ISAT. Get the diagnostic manual for the TCS, read these:

I am convinced that these people who sent the cars to the crushers literally were just old guys who knew carburetors and couldnt read english or use a multimeter. Is it an early system for TCS? yeah. Does it kinda suck? yeah that too.. Is it worth crushing a car over? No! And there's a ton of diagnostic procedures and tests you can do on them! I plugged in the ISAT and it told me down to the iota what the problem was.
