Safe to use battery maintainer with the car connected? Posted by JerseySaab [Email] |
With the sale of another vehicle I finally have space to keep our 1995 CSE garaged and out of the weather. Also since the car doesn't get much use, with power now available I'm using a Noco "Genius 2" battery maintainer to keep the battery in good condition.
Is it safe to keep the car connected to the battery while this gadget is attached? I'm a bit paranoid about possibly damaging 30-year-old electronics, especially an ECU that was modified by Eeuroparts to work with a T7 BPC valve. (That modification service is no longer available.)
For now to be safe I disconnect the the battery ground terminal, but of course that dumps any stored settings. This is probably the safest course of action despite the inconvenience of losing settings, but anyone here know otherwise?
