I own two 1998 9000's. The batteries in both cars are continuously connected to the vehicles. One 9000 is usually with me in Florida and the other is in storage in the garage of my house in Virginia. One is equipped with a flooded cell battery and the other has an Optima AGM battery with a 2016 manufacturing date. In my opinion the reason that this battery is still functional is that it is always kept fully but gently charged. The battery of the in storage car is continuously connected to a trickle charger. I have been doing this for years. Sometimes the in storage car remains in that status for up to a year. When we travel and leave the Florida house for more than two weeks the 9000, a 2008 9-5 and our 1999 Chrysler 300 M are attached to trickle chargers. These procedures have worked well for me.
