Definately checkout Quasi's site.
If it is the seat heater element (as it is about 90% of the time), I've always been able to successfuly solder the break without any fire danger. If you just solder the break back together, you should be fine. I'm not sure what issue Morgan had - I can only speculate, and that's always dangerous. But solder the broken ends back together, and cover with a little heat shrink tubing or electrical tape - not because it needs to be insulated, but because the solder joint is stiffer than the wire, and the tubing/tape helps spread out the forces.
