I managed to get a preamp out of the '93's clarion deck from the cable that led to the rear amp, the problem is that I have 2 amps now - a 35w*2 and 120w*2 (both RMS). The small one has crossovers but not that powerful, the big one has no crossovers, so I'm using (ugh) the small one as basically a "crossover", by hooking the preamp to it and the speaker outputs to the hi-inputs on the big amp. This of course isn't the best solution but it puts out a lot of sound. I'm torn whether to stick a passive crossover onto the sub instead, buy an active crossover, or just wait a couple months until I have the $ to pick up a deck with a dedicated sub-out (probably what I'll do). I have a _ton_ (about 15 gigs) of MP3's on my computer and I'm really interested in getting a deck that plays them. Most of the ones I've seen either look like crap (Aiwa, Sony) and don't have sub outputs, or are really expensive, but I just recently saw one from JVC that looks nicer and has the sub preamp out. I'll bridge the 4 channels onboard into 2 and pump 36 watts RMS into the front speakers (probably replace the stock ones), and use the small amp I have for my rear speakers and the big amp for the sub. Can you think of any major drawbacks to that?
