I hate to tell you this, but your car has not been well maintained. If you had to have the radiator replaced, then it must have been because the coolant wasn't chenged every couple of years. You need to have it backflushed and the coolant replaced every couple of years; if you do that, the cooling system should be fine. Bar's Leaks is a good preventive measure also, and replacing the thermostat when the coolant is changed is a good idea.

The shift coupler should be replaced every hundred thousand miles or so. Every 75 K would be better. It's a cheap part, so it's worth doing.

The pulleys and belt should be changed every 50 K or so. Don't wait for these cheap parts to fail; have them replaced at major intervals. At that mileage it would also be good to replace the crankshaft pulley (every 100 K, as a general rule).

Keep the plugs well maintained too, and tell the mechanic to use dielectric grease on them.

Yes, you could bail and get a new car. Or you could maintain it very diligently and do a lot better than you've been doing. See link below for maintenance tips.
