I agree. Did the same fix on my 94 9kcs after the reservoir leaked following a ride on the flatbed truck home. There are two steel rods goint through the bottle. The end of the rod is attached to the car body. A crack was found between the rear rod and the bottle where it is attached to the frame.
I actually did it twice. The first time I removed the whole bottle and used a glue gun to fix it. It didn't work. It is a combination of the glue incompatible with the bottle, not sufficient heat input for adhesion and the fact that the rod has a tendency to move during fit up if a crack has formed.
The best way is, as Jeff mentioned, use two part epoxy and apply it with the bottle attached to the car.
You have to remove the passenger side front wheel and the plastic wheel well arch. It is a fairly straight forward job.
