I have the JT 3" downpipe installed on my Saab - no popping, whatsoever,
and as far as the pipe that goes over the rear axle, that has nothing
to do with the downpipe. As far as aluminized steel, vs. stainless: it
might be a consideration for a muffler, but not the downpipe. There's
two reasons I can think of for not using stainless on the downpipe - one,
cost. Two, the downpipe is pretty well protected from the elements ( read
snow and salt ). Also, for a pipe which undergoes thermal extremes, I'd
think that the less brittle aluminized steel would fare better - could be
wrong on this, but MHO. For US customers, the JT downpipe makes great
economic sense - it not much more than $200, including shipping. The
other exhaust components are readily available here. The whole system,
downpipe, 3" cat, 3" muffler, and fabricated pipe to go over the rear axle
cost around $500 - about the same as just the stainless downpipe from
Abbott.
