Just finished finger bolting an 87 900 rear axle into my 71 99. Everything is in the mock up stages right now, but for the most part it all fits nicely. I need to make a few modifications to the panhard bar mount on the car, and I have to cut the lower shock mount off of the 900 lower arms and weld in a plate with a single hole to mount my 99 shocks. (I would just use a 900 shock but I already bought a set of SPAX adjustable units.) The panhard bar mounts differently on a 900 so I will have to cut off the tabs on the frame and make a new bracket. There are several different incarnations of the aluminum pivot bracket for the lower arms. With these differences in the parts, they could be used to re-center the wheel in the wheelwell when lowered. I currently have a set of SPG springs in the car but they are way too long with the factory mount. I do plan on replacing the upper spring buckets on the car with the screw jack style setup used in stock cars. This should give me a nicely adjustable ride height. I do plan on running the car rather low.
I have the drivers front suspension finger bolted in place, but the pass side needs some rust repair before I can bolt it together. That Damn battery left some carnage! I want to have the suspension in place and the engine in the bay this summer. Its gonna be tight so everything needs to be in place to fab the cage . I also need to replace the pass side rear quarter panel this year. Once all the fab is done Ill blow the whole thing apart for paint and body work.
