That's one solution, that would make bulb changes in the paddock a huuuuge pain though, and depending on rules, isn't it only 20 or 30 min service sessions between stages?
If that's the case, I bet running a solid ground wire from the battery, or an engine grounding lug back to the tail light housings and soldering right to the housing, or wedge it between the body mounting screw and the housing might at least help.
So the bulbs aren't like the C900 bulbs where they're just in-line with a 12V wire and don't need grounded directly, but the ground at the end of the line has to be good?
(I'm gonna have to go poke around in the trunk of my '73, I haven't been into 99's long enough to be able to visualize everything).
Maybe give Paul Perry at Swedish Auto Factory a call, he used to track all sorts of the cool vintage cars, he might be able to tell you right what to do.
Try Luke direct too, I don't have his number, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to get.
