Fuel consumption too high:
Had this happen many years ago, fouling plugs and such. My problem was too high a fuel pressure, which was cured by adjusting the regulator. A gauge is required to know what it is...28psi or 31psi depending on the year.
The throttle valve switch can also be improperly adjusted.
The manual also mentions "Information sensors or the control unit not functioning correctly or the electrical connections have too high contact resistance"
I have about a dozen of the "brains" in the basement, but I've personally never had one fail(the one in my car now has been in the loop for over 20 years). If you want a few to try, I can ship you some if you pay postage....send me an email....make sure you get the number off the box so I can send the right ones.
I'd start with checking fuel pressure.
