When I worked for a dealer in '74-5, our factory service rep was a specialist in the D-jet injection system. One of the things about this system is that the computer is _very_ sensitive to any changes in the electrical system. If you put fog lights or driving lights on the car, it can change the way the car runs if the alternator can't keep up with the draw. Our rep told us that we could have 100 computers sitting on the shelf and _one_ of them _might_ work properly in the car we're working on. In other words, they are _very_ inconsistent.
Check the fuel pressure, as Doug said. Also check the vacuum in the intake manifold when running. If the vacuum is off, the vacuum sensor on the fender won't read properly. Make sure the hoses are all good.
The place I worked in NH, the year before working for the dealer, bought a D-jet testing unit that plugged into the harness, and the computer could be plugged into the back of the plug, to test the computer as well as the peripherals on the car. The Bosch testing unit that we had at the dealership did not have the computer plug on the back of the plug. The big problem with the D-jet is that there are so many variables, and the computers are so sensitive that it might not run properly with everything _in_ spec.
