Mine's on blocks again - sigh! Ripped the steering rack out and the steering column. Been hating this wonky steering for 8 years now, but never wanted to be pained by the rack removal with the engine in the car. Found three things that are suspect - passenger side rack rubber is totally shot, the driver side inner tie rod has a bit of play, and the upper pinch bolt on the intermediate shaft of the column was MISSING! I have a different column ready to go in, and a few used racks laying around, so parts shouldn't be a problem. I also found a guy who has three early NOS steering racks - the outer tie rods are the fine thread, and the tube is a smaller diameter. I may go that route, but I don't think I have any of the smaller passenger side rack mounting rubbers in stock.
