I drive my 1970 99e every day, about 30 miles, with the occasional 380 mile round trip from Seattle to Portland, and the only issue is the occasional hot start stumble. Otherwise it's great - quick starts, perfect steady idle, pretty good fuel economy, etc.. Nimble, comfortable, great visibility and an awesome heater/air system. I'm completely captivated.
I had another D-jet 99 that fouled it's plugs and I couldn't figure out what to do. But it's gone now (sniff!) and this one runs great.
I say try to fix it and keep it!
