99 vs. MBG Timing Chain Tensioner photos Posted by Gary Stottler [Email] (#1463) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gary Stottler) on Sat, 19 Mar 2011 17:06:37 In Reply to: Tensioner photos to follow, Gary Stottler [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 18 Mar 2011 04:38:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Here's a picture of the Saab 99 and MGB timing chain tensioners. There are 3 differences:
1) Shape of the "shoe" - don't think this is a big deal
2) spring tensioner must be released after installing - don't think this is a big deal, but would consult MGB service manual
3) Oil pressure feed orifice size is a lot different - the MGB part would need to be tapped, plugged, and drilled with the correct orifice. A bit of work, but do-able.
Thanks,
Gary
