which then pushes the shaft w/ shoe against the chain. In a pressurized system under steady state the pressure is the same on either side of the 'hole'. The only way the size of the hole will matter is if there are dramatic changes in pressure on one side or the other - and I think the hole would need to be pretty tiny to restrict the pressure of hot oil enough to be noticed. The size of the hole would make a difference if it was a leak - under same pressure a smaller hole will pass less oil in the same time as a larger hole.
