I don't think it matters what stuff you have in there. 20 deg. at 2000RPM. Your flywheel can't be "off" due to the quide pin...though I suppose someone could have manipulated something. The only mechanical part that can normally be 'off" would be the distributor. If you can't get the specs right at 2000RPM then suspect the dist. to be off a tooth or so.
That being said, the only car I had problems timing was my first 99. Partly because I didn't understand the car that well, and partly because it was a frankensaab like the one you have. If the car runs, you're off to a good start.
