I did this to two cars with reasonably good success but it was awhile ago and I'm afraid I don't have much specific help to share regarding installation. There used to be a couple good websites about it but both of my links are dead.
I remember the water pump was a snug fit among all the hoses and stuff around the water pump housing. One thing you will need is an expandable rubber plug to fill the bottom hole in the water pump housing once the old pump is removed. Use a plug like you would repair a freeze plug with. I seem to remember that plug also filled the lower opening to the idler shaft below. I had to jury rig some of the hoses and I think I made a three way fitting out of copper to route coolant to the heater. My heater never did really work well with the electric pump but others claimed theirs worked fine.
I never used the digital controller. On one installation I used a rheostat mounted in the engine compartment to control the pump speed. Once I found what I thought was the right speed I just left it. In the other installation I just let it run full speed because it was temporary until I had a chance to swap the engine. I still have that in my 99 with a stock water pump but I still keep the electric pump in case I ever need it again. Hope that helps some...
