LJB - I believe I remember trading stories with you at Crystal Mountain SOC ? I have Silver '76 EMS 'track car'. I've been trying to figure how to do this myself. I'm not sure what wears, the yolk or the slot in the caliper, - or both. I have an old set of calipers with the 'shims'. I believe the shims are a 'U' shape crimped onto the wear surface of the yolk. Also seems that the wear is on 3 surfaces on each side of caliper. My first thought is to have someone build up surfaces on the yolk and then machine down to a size based on current dimensions of slot in caliper. Every yolk surface and slot is probably worn somewhat differently. What appears to be sheetmetal on the shimmed yolks would not have to be very strongly attached, but the sheetmetal would have to be a pretty tough material to hold up. I've also wondered if there might be a u-shape HPDE plastic that might work. It shouldn't be a tight fit or the function of the calipers will be compromised. If I figure something out I'll post here - but it may not be in the near future.
