Wow, sounds great... Paying for race gas will get old if this is your daily driver- What are your plans for intercooling? I would seriously consider water injection and a front mounted intercooler. Water injection would allow you to live happily on pump gas, too.
Also, B-motors are fairly robust if you solve a few big problems: Cooling. If you are floggin this thing (like you are building it to be) you really should consider a cross flow/high flow radiator. I have a Davies-Craig electric waterpump that never lets the temp climb anywhere above the "N" on the guage. Very happy there. The mechanical pump is crap. The other problem with cooling is keeping your head from melting. It will try, especially with 20 psi. The electric water pump helps a ton there. I have been tempted to get a head temp guage just to keep track of mine.
The other major issue is your poor transmission. I have been told the four speed box can be made to be one of the strongest boxes Saab ever sold. I just got the last good four speed cluster gear in the whole world a few months ago. I had all of the gears shot-peened, and the thing should be bullet proof. Five speed parts are easy enough to come by, but if you are joining the hot b-motor club you should stick with that wonderful four speed ratio.
As to the fuel injection, the CIS-lambda system is easliy capable of supporting four times the horsepower it came from the factory with. I got a book that was reccommended by someone here on the list called Bosch Fuel Injection & Engine Management, by Charles O. Probst. It was a great read, and extremely informative. It sounds like you have things pretty well under controll, though. Does the Haltech tie into the injectors at all? I figure that is why you want to switch. Anyway, I am very curious to see what happens with the turbo at 8500 rpm. The stock turbo maps show the power dropping off sharply at 6500-ish. Are you racing this, or driving it? I would imagine you will be opting for a bigger turbo with more boost at high rpms and accept a little lag. The b-motor turbo kicks 16 valve butt on the track, due in part to it's big turbo- The power is huge at high rpms. I say go for something that takes a bit of skill to keep under control for daily driving. I like driving a car that requires some finesse. Good for you. Sounds like a great project. What are you doing about suspension? Here is the list of mods on my 1978 99 turbo.

Craig

Edlebrock H2O injection (not currently in use- soon to be replaced by a Aquamist system)
Lightened flywheel (-5 lbs)
Jacobs Electronic ignition
ported head
Ansa High performance exhaust
900 Intercooler
hot cam out of early 99
APEXI'i BOV
aluminum minilite/shelby style rims shod with 195-55-R15 Kumho Ecstas 712's
TME Sweden sport springs
Rear addeco swaybar, urethane bushings
rebuilt tranny with all gears shot-peened
Rally style box welded control arms
Bilstein shocks in front, KYB in back
new bushings throughout front end
relocated battery to the trunk
Complete rebuild 4000 miles (four months) ago.

Interior:
Sparco racing seat
Schroth four point harness
momo/saab sport and rally steering wheel
Autometer Ultra-Lite guages: A/F, oil press, boost. Mounted in din slot, angled to driver
Saab 90 full length center console (three din slots, two cubbies)
custom aluminum dash trim
Clarion cd player
Electric locks are in the works. Contemplating a roll cage, but I still want to put the back seat down. Maybe a b-pillar harness bar will tide me over.

Exterior:
Lousy burgundy paint, polished to within an inch of it's life. Awaiting body work, and paint.
Airflow kit front airdam
new wheel arch trim
again, lousy paint. A great fifteen footer.

I *think* that is all...
