For me, I switched from 75W to Red Line synthetic 75W90NS and I'm very happy with it. I wanted to go synthetic. (I'm on some kind of synthetic kick with all my cars, they are getting synthetic everything now). It looks like Lubriplate is not synthetic. I haven't had my car in really cold weather yet, so the jury is out on that. But it was 47 here this morning and it shifted fine cold.
Red Line is readily available at NAPA, but it costs about $12/quart. Lubriplate is cheaper/quart but you have to buy more, so kind of a tie there.
Since your gearbox can use API-GL4, I would consider MTL as well.
If you really want straight 75W, you could try this dealer number for a 5 gallon container of Castrol - Saab part number 99 00 754. It's a white plastic cylindrical container with Castrol written on the side and looks pretty cool.
I suggest going with Red Line 75W90NS and see how you like it. If you don't like it, try Red Line MTL. If both of those are unsatisfactory, then I would probably try Red Line 10W30 synthetic motor oil as a sort of benchmark. As a last resort, go with the Lubriplate. Keep us posted!
