Doug, I've heard from reliable sources that genuine SAAB, not aftermarket, pump shafts and idler gears are a must so as not to destroy the gear teeth. I assume it's probably do to different machining practices and tolerances, etc. You probably already know all that, but it does not hurt to mention. I too, have had similar problems to yours in regards to leaking, weeping, and seeping. Fortunately, I have the 8-cog shaft which is not as risky to remove and install. I renewed the impeller, both oil and coolant seals, and bearing. I scrupulously cleaned and polished everything and it still leaks after two attempts. The only two things I can think of that may be problem is, 1. Improperly seated seals, or 2. Wear on the pump shaft where the oil seal seals. Mine looked fine by visual inspection, but next time I'll measure it with a micrometer. BTW, the last time I purchased the impeller seal from SAAB, it was a little different but still carried the same part number.
