Common usage is: stock cast iron exhaust is 'exhaust manifold'
'header' usually refers to a tubular 'collector' type exhaust manifold, usually a custom or performance part.
My recollection is that the two piece cast iron exhaust manifold that attaches to a 2-pipe exhaust is the best of the 'stock' manifolds, and with a custom larger pipe exhaust system gives a performance increase to the later 99 engines - known as 'B' engines - the one with the mechanical in the block water pump. The 'H' engine is the later 8-valve with external belt driven WPump and distributor on the cam cover.
Jack Lawrence at MSS may have some data on better exhaust to use with the two piece manifold.
