Poor old Saabs. A month ago I dismantled a 1970 99 with the original 1700cc triumph that belonged to a friend of mine for the past 28 years. He was the second owner. The car was hit by a new 5 Series BMW, when waiting for the green lights. The BMW was driven by a drunk driver and hit the poor old Saab at the right doors at a speed of about 45 mph, according to police officers. All occupants were hospitalised, and now only the power plant remained. Hope we will continue ninty nining for many more years to come. My 1975 99LE covered more than 260000 miles since I have bought it in 1992.
