This is not too hard a swap to do, as both are CIS engines. In fact, all '82-'87 99/90 came with an 8v H-motor from factory. For the tranny, move over your current front chain cover (assuming you already have the extra little tab on the cover for the 5-sp transmission). You will need to find single belt pulleys for the waterpump and alternator, say from an '82 900. You can get away with a dual belt crank pulley, but it will be tight. You may be able to move over your current alternator pulley from the B-motor. The alternator doesn't have to be moved to another location if you install a 1" smaller brakebooster, like on '73-'74 99 and '82-'87 99/90. The right side engine mount can be fabricated with a MIG welder, using the lower part from your current mount and the top part from the new one. You will also have to fabricate a turbo downpipe. The firewall needs to be pushed back a bit, to make room for the waterpump pulley. You can either cut and weld or use a hydraulic press. Last, all the APC and boost control systems need to be moved over.
Google for SAAB 99 Turbo 16 and you will find lots of pages about doing this engine swap.
Good luck!
