Yes, the rockers are boxed structures, as they do create the "frame" for the car. I found rust on the insides of the 78T, as I had cut some access holes when I was patching holes in the rear wheel wells. Since there was no access where the rust was(up by the front doors) I cut windows out of the top of the rockers, did my sandblasting, painted as much as I could with POR15, and used weld-thru coating on the "windows" before welding them closed. I'll post a picture later.
I restored my 73 and 75 for under $5000 each, and have spent only about half that amount on this 78T resto so far. Since I did all of the work myself, I had no desires to pay someone thousands to do something I could do myself(even if it would take me longer to do it). The use of dip tanks and body immersing certainly is the way to go, but only if you have that kind of money to spend > I do not.
