Thanks, BAAB for your response. Almost everything about this car is in good shape except the rust issue and an undiagnosed electrical problem in the starter circuit. It was by far my favorite among the 4 older Saabs I've driven over the years. That's why I feel badly about recycling it. Ads on Craig's list and Hemmings motor news, and calls to local Saab enthusiasts all failed to generate interest. Maybe it's living so far from major population areas or maybe its the poor state of the economy that explains the lack of response. My thinking had been similar to yours until a second winter approaches and I still have one two many cars in the drive way. Unfortunately, I am to now too old, too poor, too ill-equipped and too busy with other projects (including maintaining the '88 900 I now drive in the winter)to take on a serious body work restoration. Guess I'll still be calling the auto recycling wait a week or so. Thanks again, though you haven't helped ease my guilt about all those perfectly good and irreplaceable old Saab parts being destroyed. I guess life is just like that sometimes.
