Shouldn't be a problem for the pump - earlier K-jet cars just had a simple relay setup where the pump was always on. Later cars with oxygen sensors use a tach signal to determine when to power the pump.
If your problems are one of the K-jet electronic components or wiring to one of those components (the brain box, K-jet system relay, the tach feed, or spotty wiring somewhere in between), powering the pump directly will eliminate the issues you are seeing *if* all the other parts are sound.
If on the other hand, the behavior persists, chances are it's one of the
mechanical subcomponents (warm-up reg, aux air valve, fuel distro, etc).
I had a K-jet car that (once warm) wouldn't stay running unless I had the throttle open - turned out to be a crudded over O2 sensor. Obviously, this is only one of many fun and exciting possibilities...
regards,
Rowan
