I did the leak down test on my 1980 T today. I'm trying to figure out what all the white smoke is about.

I couldn't get consistent readings on the cheap leak down tester I had, but from what I could tell the cylinders hold pressure well. I couldn't hear any gurgling at the oil dipstick or at the manifolds. No bubbles in the coolant tank. This is consitat with the compression test I did (they averaged about 130).

But, I discovered that coolant is leaking into the oil. Lots of it. The reservoir goes down and the oil level goes up. I was about two quarts high on the oil dipstick. I drained the oil and found it was very watery.

Is this normal for a HG failure or is something worse going on? I plan on removing the head next Saturday to begin the HG job. Thanks!
