Ok, narrow tires are fine, but they have to be brand new as well, with lots of flexible rubber. By the time a tire is worn down half way, the force required to turn the steering wheel has easily increased by 30% or more. I have a new powersteering rack for a 900 on the shelf, but it is way too wide for a 95/96. It would be much cheaper to put new front tires on the car every 5000 miles or so.
