Here's the way I see it: Each car has the ability to delight. My wife drives a '94 9000 CSE and for the long trip, I wouldn't have it any other way. For around town, my 99 (16 valve turbo mind you) does just fine...I also enjoy the 99 on the back road PAVEMENT. for the serious back road, gravel road, I'd take my sonett. I just never feel out of control in that thing. I have yet to drive a 2 stroke and as soon as I get room (ie get rid of the '73 96) I'll start really pursuing a purchase...bull nose preferred.
Ok, what I mean to say is that these cars were never made to compete against each other or for the same customer base. There is just something to be said about taking a car that is 30 + years old to it's limits and tipping the hat to saab because few cars today do it as well...and look at the money you have to spend to get one that will.
