Hi guys,
After almost a year of rebuilding everything in sight of my 71 96 including engine mods (isky cams, weber, f4 cam, new pistons, rings, balanced, electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, new clutch, rebuilt tranny, axles, rally spec exhaust, lowered a bit, Konis....yikes the list goes on) I went for a rip! It's awesome, I love the car and I love Saabnet (many of us have experienced this moment of elation after long struggles with this strange little car...yes, my co-workers and family make fun of me too)
Only issue is a strange problem. My water temperature is staying VERY low...like 118 F low. Car runs fast and sounds great, I've driven for at least 1 hour at a time (several times) in traffic and it never goes up. I have the factory gauge and a new VDO electronic gauge. I have a new water pump and I just tested the thermostat fearing that it stays open and I think it does (opens at like 150 F rather than 180) so I'm getting a new opne tomorrow. Any ideas of part number at my local Kragen?
Now just paint....machine gray like the engine bay.
here is some pics of the sweet engine bay if anyone is interested:
