Hello Kansas and thanks for your response. I have been chasing this hesitation since I bought the car back in 1998, but there was no concern util resently when I began to drive it and try to sort out some problems. When I bought the car it had sat in a gargage for eight years and the owner had only driven it 60 miles himself after buying it. He had pulled the carb and messed with it (and ?) leaving it after sometime. I was able to get it running after finding and unblocking the gas tank to fuel line connection. I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, set up the ignition as per JA recommendations, adjusted the rocker/valve clearances, put a tune-up kit into the FOMOCO carb, replaced all vaccum hoses, replaced the carb and itermediate plate base gaskets, fit a new diaphram into the decel valve and a new accelerator pump diaphram. Today I removed the carb and I am going over everything again. I have been told that the spring on the "control piston, full load enrichment" (sometimes called a fuel economizer valve) becomes weak and placing a few washers onto it's shaft will help with the transition from the idle system to the accelleration system, so I am going to try that. I have not messed with the set up on the decel valve or the vaccum advance. I have also resently noted that my tach wanders upwards now and then but there is no (noticable) slipping of the clutch. Any ideas welcome.
