hello, thank you for your input so far. I know v4's well, have totally rebuilt mine in my Sonett. The seller states he bought the engine from a guy in either wisconsin or michigan, can't rememebr which, and that it came from an ex ice racer that, Karllsen?sp. supposedly built to race, but there are no facts to back it up other than its got a more rare two barrel setup and 4 spd on it. he stated in the 96, he could easily break the tires out when he stomped on the trottle in second and could mess around with a few of the local car guys at the lights, but not the top end. At the time, i do not have any pics, i forgot to take my camera, and i actually happened on the car on accident. i bought an old saab spare parts kit off ebay and the guy is within 50 miles, so i figured i would pick it up to see if has any other stuff, and he does. totally did not wake up yesterday thinking i am buying ANOTHER project, but i think this is a pretty good find. i would like to just make a nice driver, which this totally has potential. like i stated before, i am not a 96 guy, i have a 68 sonett v4 and know the car well and what to look for in them, just not the 96's. i am not sure what the problematic areas of the car could be, so i wanted to find a little more info from you fellow sabbers of just what to look for in addition of just surfing the web, heck we're dealing with 40 year old cars here, most of the time its hard to find good info, know that well from the sonett. And i thank you all for you input, by all means, if anyone else has any as well please let me know, Thanks,John
