Hi Don,
Three problems that immediately come to mind for lurching/bucking at start are these:
1) Sticky freewheel.
2) Oil on the clutch disc. Recently had this problem on my '68. The front trans mount was leaking and it was near impossible to start off smoothly.
3) Loose motor mounts. Check the front two, which you can see on either side of the engine. The rear one is found in the cockpit- a bolt goes through the firewall, near the floor, into the rear of the trans.
Give us a little more detail and we might be able to provide better advice. For example, I'm assuming it's NOT related to the engine performance itself- like ignition or fuel, correct? IE, the engine seems to be RUNNING properly...right?
