Thanks Eric
Lots to ponder here.
Fortunately the car is still running. It seems weak on one cylinder, not quite a miss. I have done all the basic stuff points, plug, wires, etc. Compression check showed one low cylinder reading. What numbers should I expect for the 1500 motor?
This spurred my investigation into the condition of the 1700 engine. Hopfully I can stay ahead of the "Testing to destruction" curve, and have the parts ready when needed.
Still unclear on the timing gears. Pictures in manual show balance shaft gears wiped out, but both of my small gears are metal. Is this common?
Thanks again
Tom
