Figured it out & now I need Tach to work properly Posted by 88SPGClone [Email] (#1317) [Profile/Gallery] (more from 88SPGClone) on Sun, 12 Aug 2012 09:53:12 In Reply to: shorted tach --? weak ground?, jimmy, Fri, 10 Aug 2012 20:39:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1) Thanks to Chris - I DEFINITELY had the timing matched to the wrong factory Bosch mark on the distributor. There are two, one for initial installing and one for final timing. Tried to start thereafter but wouldn't start.
2) Thanks to Jimmy - I noticed the tach was not registering any movement. I simply disconnected the VDO tach power source (fuse box) & wire from coil (negative). It STARTED.
Now it's time to figure out tach issue. Obviously I need it for tuning, etc. I did reground it to a known good point. I have tach, oil pressure & Ammeter running off the same source from fuse box. Shouldn't be an issue...but I'll start there.
Thanks Chris & Jimmy :)
