Thanks all -- that'll be the plan Eric, drive it softly and hope things don't stick. I get the feeling (hope) it'll be ok after the reaction of it after getting close to home. I just changed all the fluids a little over 1K ago but I'll drain it and check for chunks this coming week. I have a couple extra trannys but hopefully will not have to see if they're good yet. Forgot to ask too, would the freewheel being halfway cause the clutch to not engage when the pedal is depressed?
