My Mitsubishi lined up fine after I fuzzed with the spacers on the brackets...
But I am now moving to a Bosch after all these years. The Mitsubishi is lighter but uses more horsepower to run. How do I know? Just had my '67 96 dynoed (83hp at the wheels, maybe 100 at the crank if you're curious) and we discovered that my alternator drops my idle about 200 rpm with the headlights vs a Bosch hardly affecting my friends '69 96 idle at all. Conclusion? Bosch turns easier.
FYI - the alternator off of a 1989 BMW 325i is the EXACT same as the one used in the early 80s 900s. Check them both at O'Reillys - different part numbers, but same alternator.
