tell me it's possible to replace a parking brake cable!

Getting the old frayed cable out was easy enough. But there seems to be no possible way to guide the new cable through holes in the panels under the rear seat. I have been trying for hours now to get the new cable to push through.
I tried reaching through the "access hole" in the inner panel under the rear seat cushion, but no luck, the cable is too far away for me to guide it with my hand. Obviously there has to be a way to do this but I cannot figure it out. I thought maybe I could use the old cable to pull the new one through, but I can't get it to pass through from the inside of the car either.
Thanks in advance.
