Speedometer not working; wrong cable installed Posted by sRoydSmith [Email] (#2589) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sRoydSmith) on Sun, 18 Aug 2019 16:21:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The speedometer is not working on my recently purchased 1970 95 wagon. The speedometer wants a cable with a bayonet end. The cable installed has threads at that end and wants to screw on.
It is possible to force the threaded end onto the speedometer but the result is not reliable. The outer cable housing seems just a bit too long which allows the inner cable to displace towards the speedometer and away from the transmission at which point it stops rotating because the square end is no longer engaged at the transmission. Does anyone know if a cable with a bayonet end can be purchased or a good mod for the cable I have?
Thanks, Steve
