And also Front Wheel Bearing Seals Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 20 Nov 2021 08:49:31 In Reply to: Front Wheel Bearings for a 95 and 96, MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 18 Nov 2021 15:27:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I received inner and outer seal dimensions from another Vintage SAAB owner for the Front Wheel Bearings, and learned that current day seals of the correct sizes can be ordered from Grainger. No need to try to find NOS seals and hope their rubber lips are still pliable.
Inner Seals are: 42mm ID, 65mm OD, with 10mm thickness.
Outer Seals are: 50MM ID, 70mm OD, with 10mm thickness.
DDS is the brand name of the seals in the Grainger catalog with the broadest selection of sizes. They are produced in Colorado (I believe) and available in a variety of shell configurations. I will most likely purchase the SA Design shell as it offers a reinforced outer shell which should be more durable for D-I-Y installation when using a soft drift punch or wood block with hammer. The DDS web site has sketches of their various shell configurations.
