Some people I talk to say to preserve and use the freewheel.
Some I talk to say you don't need it so lock it out.
Using the sleeve locks the teeth closer together. I have heard people say using just the freewheel lock out lever, that it can slip back into freewheel on its own. This wears on the teeth.
I guess it comes down to preference.
I personally like the idea of engine breaking.
With the older brakes, I personally feel safer driving knowing I have engine breaking, cause in a manual car, driven right you hardly use the brakes.
So its my preference to lock out the freewheel and I would like to do it in a way so that if I ever sell the car, the next person can unlock the freewheel if they wish.
